25 of June 2014. A date to go down in history for KW Football and the Wild West.

First win in the history of DT-WW clashes.

For most of the match, the score was very close. WW had a great possession of the ball, playing widely and using the fact that it was a 5 vs 5 game (for the first time) to their advantage.

The first recognizable advantage WW achieved, approx. 30 minutes before the end, when DT made several silly mistakes while trying to create some situations.

As it turned out this was enough to beat the Dream Team.

In general the Wild West had a plan, which worked well, and the Dream Team was the opposite. DT thought they didn't need a strategy and would win regardless. That confidence lost them the match, assisted by many controversial decisions made by referee; disallowed goals, failure to award penalties, time-wasting, overly-aggressive tackles and unfair fouls! World Cup disease really took hold!

Frustration on both sides reached dangerous levels, and the match was finished 7 minutes before the end whistle, to prevent the two teams coming to blows!

What's worth a mention apart from the fighting?

  • Great match of new WW player, Jonathan Esquinas who played fantastically in defence! Well done!

  • High amount of goals scored by Marcos, many of them thanks to Marcio

  • And good goal keeping skills by Rui.

DT top scorer was Artur, but he didnt play his best match.

DT had a few nice one touch passes but in general the whole team was playing slower, with less organisation and unity than normal.

Despite the issues during the game both squads left the pitch having learned valuable lessons in team spirit, the pitfalls of over-confidence and fair play....what football is really all about!!

Next time we need proper watch, better referee, and try to be fair :) It will be sixth during this season! So far the score is 4-1 for DT.
